Consultancy Groups

Health Systems Development Group has established a partnership with HLSP, an international professional services firm specialising in the health sector, and a member of the Mott MacDonald Group. In Africa, HLSP operates from an office in Nairobi. In partnership, we successfully conducted the Output to Purpose Review of the DfID-funded Essential Health Services for Kenya. The review provided DfID and the Ministry of health (Government of Kenya) a through mid-term assessment of programme implementation, and recommendations for improvements in the remaining phase of the programme. HSDG consultants have worked on assignments with other international consulting firms including Liverpool Associates for Health (LATH), Euro Health Group, and Health Research for Action (HERA).

Academic & Research Institutions

In Uganda, Health Systems Development Group has partnered with the Makerere University School of Public Health and Nkozi Martyrs University, working together in the area of knowledge generation and institutional training and capacity building of health personnel. Several of the HSDG directors have been involved in collaborative projects with international academic and research institutions resulting in development of tools, publication, and documentation: under the DfID-funded Health Systems Development Programme, a book on the health systems reforms in Uganda was jointly published by the Ministry of Health, Uganda, the Makerere University School of Public Health and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; in partnership with the Institute for International Health and Development, Queeen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Save the Children Fund UK, a tool was developed for policy makers considering the removal of user charges in their health systems.
